Tyler Forks Community Forest
Ashland County, Wisconsin
Landmark Conservancy acquired nearly 600 acres adjacent to Copper Falls State Park, expanding and connecting ecologically important lands and creating new recreational opportunities near one of Wisconsin’s most popular state parks.
The nature preserve is open to the public for non-motorized recreation, including hiking, hunting, fishing, trapping, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing and wildlife viewing. Two trailheads have been established, complete with parking lots, signs, and maps to help guide visitors.
Landmark staff led the development of nearly five miles of hiking trails on the property, connecting to trails on the State Park and the North Country National Scenic Trail. With the support of the Town of Morse, Landmark staff and volunteers constructed over 300’ of boardwalk, allowing visitors to cross sensitive wetlands while keeping their feet dry. Other trail improvements help improve river access for anglers, while protecting sensitive slopes and shorelines.
With its mature forests, rolling glacial topography, and miles of cold and clean rivers and streams, Tyler Forks Community Forest is truly a gem in the Northwoods!
